Eurasia Ju-52 at Chungking’s Sanhupa Airport

Superb photo that shows one of Eurasia’s Ju-52s. The man who brought it to my attention asked if I thought it was taken at Chungking’s Sanhupa Airport, a cobblestone airport built on a Yangtze sandbar below the city. Comparing the hills in the background of this photo with one I know was taken at Sanhupa, I think it’s a definite confirmation. What do you think? Continue reading

Old photograph fever sweeps China

Apparently, the Communist party frowned on China’s history as “black time,” and its scourging of past associations caused most Chinese to purge their family photographs. Official historical archives were also destroyed, along with their photos. As a consequence, there are almost no photographs of China — in China — prior to 1970. Old photograph fever is currently sweeping China as people thirst to rediscover their history. Continue reading
