Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk by Ben Fountain.
It’s the best novel I’ve read in ten years, since Sometimes a Great Notion and Angle of Repose. In my opinion, it’s one of the great American war stories, and I’m shelving it with The Thin Red Line, The Naked and the Dead, The Things They Carried, Catch-22, and The Red Badge of Courage.
Pitch perfect and utterly convincing. I’m in awe.
I loved it too. Funny and tragic at the same time.
