She was 19, with her twin brother, waiting for the ship to take them back to America and a typhoon near Japan kept them in Shanghai. A friend’s wealthy father donated a chauffeur
and car for the evening, and they went to the “Little Club”, the “most exclusive club in Shanghai,” just to be able to say they went.

I recently received my great grandfather’s immigration files from the Dept. of Homeland Security after requesting/ordering them early this summer.
Interestingly, he arrived here June 1910, through the Port of Seattle, on a Section 6 Student certificate, via the ORIGINAL RMS Empress of Japan!
These documents provide the missing link on his immigration to the U.S. because his father never revealed his existence as his son in all his interviews/interrogations.
